Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

(TILLSONBURG, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to investigate a two-vehicle collision on Broadway Street in the Town of Tillsonburg.

On January 9, 2015 at approximately 9:45 p.m. police were called to the collision on Broadway Street at Saunders Crescent. A Toyota car stopped at the stop sign at Saunders Street then proceeded onto Broadway Street. The car turned in front of an oncoming northbound Jeep and was struck on the driver’s side.

As a result of the collision, the male driver of the car, 88 year old Arnold VANDERPAS, of Tillsonburg, died on January 11, 2015 in hospital. The male driver of the Jeep was transported by ambulance with minor injuries.

The OPP Technical Traffic Investigation (TTCI) Team attended the scene to assist with the investigation. The Tillsonburg Fire Department and Oxford EMS attended and assisted at the scene.

The collision remains under investigation.
