Fatal Collision Update – No Charges Expected

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On November 2, 2017 approximately 4:50 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision involving a 2013 Mazda 3 and a Ford dump truck on County Road 21 near 4th Line, Township of Centre Wellington.

The driver of the Mazda 3, 38-year-old Amy STILES of Fergus, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford dump truck was transported to hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation unit attended to assist Wellington County OPP with this event. The investigation has revealed that for unknown reasons the Mazda Sedan crossed over the centre line into the path of the Dump Truck. A mechanical inspection of the Dump Truck was conducted and found no defects. Investigators have also ruled out cell phone usage for either driver as being a factor in this collision.

No charges are expected to be laid.
