(CALEDON, ON) – On Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at approximately 4:01 pm, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 9, involving a flat-bed delivery truck, a Chevrolet Impala, and Toyota Corolla.
The road was closed for several hours on Highway 9, east of Heartlake Road, and remained closed until the early morning of Wednesday, October 12, 2016, while the OPP’s Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) attended the scene to provide assistance with the investigation.
The Impala was travelling westbound on Highway 9 and crossed over the centre line and collided head-on with the flat-bed truck. The driver of the Impala, Derek Murray FISCHER, 30, of no fixed address, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision.
The driver of the flat-bed truck was transported by air ambulance to a Toronto trauma centre with serious, non-life threatening injuries.
