(HALIBURTON, ON) – Members from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the OPP’s Technical Collision Investigation unit (TTCI) are currently on scene investigating a fatal single motor vehicle collision that has occurred on Highway 35 south of Muskoka Road 117 in the Township of Algonquin Highlands.
Preliminary Investigation reveals that a vehicle left roadway and struck a rock cut. The lone male driver of motor vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased has been identified as Christopher ROPER, 56 years of age from Dorset, ON. Next of kin has been notified and the investigation is continuing.
The road still remains closed at Highway 35 between Raven Lake Landing and Muskoka Road 117 until further notice.
