(Petawawa, Ontario) – The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 17 just east of Paquette Road in the Town of Petawawa. The collision was reported on the 5th of January at approximately 8:00 pm.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a west bound transport truck and an east bound car collided. A second east bound car then collided with the first east bound car.
Provincial Constable John Riendeau is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Technical Traffic Collision Investigators. Highway 17 is closed in both directions, and is being rerouted at Paquette Road and Murphy Road in the Town of Petawawa while police investigate.
The investigation is continuing.
