(LAKESHORE, ON) –The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Lakeshore Fire Service and Essex Windsor Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responded to a two vehicle crash on Essex County Road 23 (also known as the Naylor Side Road) at South Middle Road in Lakeshore at approximately 2:20 p.m. this date.
A Chevrolet minivan and a Mercedes Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) collided at the intersection.
The driver of the minivan was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Mercedes was taken to an area hospital with life threatening injuries. No one else was involved in the crash.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) are currently at the scene investigating.
Essex County Road 23 between Essex County Road 46 and North Talbot Road, as well as South Middle Road between Lakeshore Road 204 and Lakeshore Road 211 remain closed as the investigation takes place.
The name of the deceased will not be released pending notification of next of kin.
