(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH) – At approximately 10:20am, August 11, 2016, members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Eighth Avenue and Yonge Street in the Town of New Tecumseth ( Alliston).
Investigation reveals that a Tractor Trailer Unit was southbound on the driveway adjacent to Swiss Chalet, attempting to turn right onto Yonge Street when it collided with a scooter which was also southbound and crossing Yonge Street within the crosswalk.
The operator of the scooter, Peter SANDY, age 96, of Henderson Cr., New Tecumseth ,
(Alliston) was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Nottawasaga Detachment OPP were assisted by members of the Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) team. Investigation is continuing.
