(MATTAWA, ON) – On November 6, 2015, at approximately 10 p.m., Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), District Ambulance Service (Mattawa) and the Mattawa Fire Department responded to a vehicle in the Mattawa River, Bissett Road, Mattawa.
Investigation revealed that an eastbound vehicle had collided with a hydro pole and went over the embankment, landing with the nose of the vehicle in the river.
The driver, Sylvanius THIBERT, age 67 from Mattawa, Ontario, was the lone occupant and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Technical Traffic Collision Investigator (TTCI) and Forensic Identification Services (FIS) are assisting the Mattawa OPP in this ongoing investigation.
