(North Algona Wilberforce Township, ON) On July 26, 2015 at approximately 5:00am Killaloe OPP attended a single motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 60 at Mink Lake Road.
Alcide Poirier, 66 years of age of Killaloe, Hagarty, Richards Township was operating a Ford F250 pick-up truck westbound on Highway 60 when his vehicle struck guardrails, left the highway and rolled into the south ditch.
Jeffrey Poirier, 27 years of age of Moncton was a lone passenger in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Jeffrey Poirier was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
Alcide Poirier was taken to hospital with non- life threatening injuries.
Provincial Constable Chris Miller is continuing the investigation with assistance from the East Region OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit.
The highway was closed for approximately 7 hours. It was re-opened at 12:15pm.
