(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – On April 10, 2016 at approximately 1:40 pm officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and other emergency services personnel were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Sadowa Road, near Baker Lane.
The two vehicle occupants were trapped as a result of the crash and had to be extricated. The passenger, 59 year old Glenn CUMMINS, of Ramara Twp., was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
Sadowa Road was closed while the accident was investigated. The OPP’s Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) assisted with the investigation.
The 58 year old female driver, Lotte KATONA of the City of Kawartha Lakes, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death contrary to section 255(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Possession of a Schedule III Substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
The accused is being held for a bail hearing in Lindsay court on April 11, 2016.
