Fatal Collision – 22 Year Old Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment investigated a fatal motor vehicle collision at a Queensway West, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at approximately 4:53 p.m., OPP, Norfolk County Fire Services and Norfolk County Paramedics responded to Queensway West for a collision involving three (3) motor vehicles.

Through the course of investigation it has been determined that a grey coloured vehicle was being operated by a 66-year-old male of Norfolk County, Ontario and was travelling eastbound on Queensway West. The vehicle was stopped and was waiting to turn northbound into a business when it was struck from behind by a black coloured pick-up truck being operated by a 21-year-old male of Norwich Township, Ontario.

As a result of the collision, the silver vehicle entered the westbound lanes on Queensway West and was struck by a blue coloured pick-up truck travelling westbound.

The driver of the grey coloured vehicle, 65-year-old Richard WOOD of Norfolk County, Ontario was pronounced deceased on scene.

The driver of the black coloured pick-up did not sustain any injuries as a result of the collision.

The driver of the blue pick-up truck, a 28-year-old male of Norfolk County, Ontario, and 25 year-old female passenger along with a 2-year-old child and 3-year-old child were transported to a local area hospital for precautionary measures.

Technical Traffic Collision Investigators assisted with the investigation.

As a result of investigation, police charged 22-year-old Paul David William DYMENT of Norwich Township, Ontario with careless driving.
