Fatal ATV Collision On The Weekend

(Municipality of Trent Lakes, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to an ATV collision on the Fire Access Road west of Peterborough County Road 507 on Saturday evening just after 6:30pm.

A group of experienced ATV operators were rode in the area for the day. The group returned to the hunt camp, the noticed that a member of the group was unaccounted for. In retracing their route, they located they scene of the crash with the victim pinned underneath his ATV. CPR was initiated by rescuers, however, Wayne PATTON, (age 59) of Lindsay was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency workers.

Units from the Highway Safety Division (HSD) provided investigative support for Peterborough County OPP members with Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and a Collision Reconstructionist. A post mortem examination that is scheduled for later today will determine a cause of death and may assist investigators with a cause for the crash.
