Owen Sound Police had a steady Saturday night which continued into the early morning hours of Sunday. A driver who was believed to be impaired was brought to the attention of police in the area of the 800 block of 3rd Avenue East just after 2am. As a result a 27 year old Toronto man faces charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Operation with over 80mgs of Alcohol and Possession of Cocaine. The driver is scheduled to attend court on January 8, 2015 in Owen Sound.
Shortly before 3am police attended a West Side Apartment building as Owen Sound Fire Department responded to a confirmed fire. The fire was contained to a single apartment however heavy smoke filled the entire 8th Floor of the building. As a result of the fire an adult woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating as is the Criminal Investigation Branch of the Owen Sound Police Service.
