(Aweres Township, ON) – On April 9, 2015 at approximately 10:40 p.m. an officer from the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting radar patrol on Highway 17 north when a northbound pickup truck was observed travelling at a high rate of speed.
The emergency lights of the police vehicle were activated to stop the pickup truck as it was still approaching northbound.
The vehicle accelerated northbound and did not stop. The vehicle continued at a high rate of speed and was subsequently stopped by police when it proceeded down a secondary road.
18 year old Andrew Christopher ANTOINE-FROST of Aweres Township was arrested and charged with one count of Flight from Police and one count of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. The accused was also issued a Provincial Offence Notice for speeding.
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear in Provincial Court in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on May 18, 2015.
