FAIL TO REMAIN ON MAYFIELD ROAD

(CALEDON, ON) – On Tuesday, October 1, 2013 shortly after 3:40 pm, the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Emergency Services personnel responded to a fail to remain motor vehicle collision on Mayfield Road. Preliminary investigation would reveal that the suspect vehicle was travelling westbound on Mayfield Road when the driver rear-ended a Chevy Cavalier. The driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene of the collision. As a result of the impact, the driver of the Chevy Cavalier then entered the eastbound lane striking a school bus transporting Walnut Grove Public School students. No occupant of the school bus was injured as a result of the motor vehicle collision. Peel Paramedics are on scene assessing the students before their release. Once the assessment phase is completed, the students will be transported to Walnut Grove Public School by an awaiting bus. Parents are asked to attend Walnut Grove Public School and await the arrival of their child/ren.

The investigation into this motor vehicle collision is still on-going. Mayfield Road from Airport Road to Torbram Road remains closed.
