(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – On Saturday April 25, 2015 at approximately 2:00pm members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment were called to an address on Hargrave Road in the former Eldon Township.
The complainants reported that they were cleaning out an old farm house for a friend that now lives out of province, to get it ready for sale, when they came across the device.
Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP attended the scene and located the device inside a garage on the property. Members of the OPP Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) attended the scene and de-activated the small explosive device without incident.
The investigation is continuing by the OPP Provincial Weapons and Enforcement Unit (PWEU) and the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment.
