Exeter Man Facing Impaired Care And Control Charges

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A 57-year-old from Exeter is facing Impaired Care & Control and Over 80 charges following a traffic stop that took place early Saturday morning.

On November 19, 2016 at 12:16 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call about a suspected impaired driver that was parked at a private parking lot in Exeter. Officers immediately responded to the north end parking lot to check on the condition of the driver. Upon arrival they located the suspect vehicle, a Chevrolet Cruze parked in the parking lot and a male driver seated in the driver’s seat with the keys in the ignition. The investigating officer also noted the driver had been drinking some alcohol.

A subsequent breath demand was made to the driver for the roadside screening device. The test was completed and the driver registered a Fail. He was immediately placed under arrest and was transported to the Lucan OPP Detachment for breath tests. While speaking with the driver the officer later noted the driver was displaying several signs of impairment. As a result, the investigating officer also arrested the driver for the offence of Impaired Care & Control.

The driver subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 57-year-old Clinton UNDERHILL from Exeter has been charged with Care & Control of a Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol & Impaired Care & Control. He was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 15, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for the week.
