(KENORA, ON) On Friday, March 11, 2016 at approximately 2:00 pm, officers from the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were at the Kenora Courthouse transporting several persons in custody to the Kenora District Jail, when a 31 year old male escaped lawful custody.
The male fled to the Kenora Bay waterfront where he crossed the ice making his way to Treaty Island. The OPP North West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), the OPP Canine Unit and Kenora Search and Rescue were activated to locate the male.
Approximately one hour later, the male was located and arrested on Treaty Island. He was transported to hospital as a precaution and then was remanded to Kenora District Jail.
