On Tuesday December 3, at approximately 12:21 am OPP officers conducting RIDE at County Road 2 near Moore Service Road in Hamilton Township when a vehicle entered into the spot check at a high rate of speed and stopped abruptly a short distance away from the officers. An investigation into the lone male occupant of a 2012 Honda Civic found that he was exhibiting signs of alcohol consumption. The male was arrested by the officer and transported to the OPP detachment in Cobourg for breath tests.
Emerson Rodney CLARKE, 51 from Port Hope, Ontario has been charged with the following offences:
Impaired operation of motor vehicle and operate motor vehicle with blood alcohol content over 80 mgs – Criminal Code.
Drive motor vehicle – no licence and drive motor vehicle no currently validated permit – Highway Traffic Act.
Fail to have insurance card – Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
The accused was released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday December 18, 2013 at 9:30 am in Cobourg, Ontario.
