(PENETANGUISHENE, On)- Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police along with members of the Penetanguishene Fire Service and Simcoe County Paramedic Services are currently at the scene of a natural gas leak at the intersection of Hilltop and Dufferin Streets in the Town of Penetanguishene.
A natural gas line was struck at approximately 11:30am today by a construction crew working in the area and emergency services were alerted. Officials from Enbridge Gas are now at the scene to access the situation and secure the broken line.
There have been no injuries and officers at the scene have evacuated 11 houses in the immediate area as a safety precaution. At this time the intersection of Payette and Dufferin remains open to allow traffic to flow around the scene as roads are closed at Hilltop and Dufferin and Richelieu and Dufferin Streets.
