The Guelph Police investigated eight collisions involving cyclists and motor vehicles in August. Most of these collisions occurred at intersections and minor injuries have been reported in some of these investigations. In two cases, it was the cyclist that was charged under the Highway Traffic Act.
Bicycles are legally considered vehicles” on Ontario’s roadways. That means bicyclists must obey the rules of the road like drivers of any other vehicle and must be treated as equal users by all other vehicles. Bicycles are being used for transportation at all times of the year and it is no longer just a summer time issue.”
