(MOOSONEE, ON) – On November 22, 2014 at 6:07 pm Moosonee Ontario Provincial (OPP) were responding to a call with the James Bay Ambulance when they were flagged down by paramedics. Police were advised that an intoxicated male was hanging his head and arms inside the ambulance window preventing them from driving. Paramedics had asked the man to leave the ambulance to no success.
Officers approached the male who was observed to be intoxicated through the consumption of alcohol. He was arrested for causing a disturbance as well as public intoxication. The accused was transported to the Moosonee OPP Detachment to be held until sober.
Once at the detachment the man became uncooperative with police and engaged them in a physical altercation.
As a result of this investigation Edward NICKOSHIE (28), of Timmins has been charged with the following offences:
Two counts of assaulting a Peace Officer contrary to section 270(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Two counts of breach of probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused has been released on a Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Moosonee on January 6, 2015 to answer to these charges.
