(CALEDON, ON) – On Saturday, February 4, 2017, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate a motor vehicle collision in the intersection of Mayfield Road and Hurontario Street in the Town of Caledon. Members of the R.I.D.E Unit (Reducing Impaired Driving Everywhere) attended the scene and observed a black Jeep Patriot in the intersection.
Upon investigation, the officer determined that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by the consumption of alcohol and arrested the driver of the Jeep.
As a result of the police investigation, Edward GEAR, 64, of Brampton was charged with the following offences:
Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Operation of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol
The 90 day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and the involved motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on February 16, 2017.
