(ESSEX COUNTY, ON) -Update on the motor vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer and Chatham-Kent police vehicle. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is on scene investigating a motor vehicle collision involving an unmarked Chatham-kent police vehicle and a tractor trailer. The collision occurred on the 401 East Bound lane approximately one kilometer east of the Comber exit.
Two Chatham-Kent police officers were conducting a motor vehicle stop on the east bound lane of highway 401.The officers were speaking to the driver of the stopped vehicle on the shoulder of the highway, a tractor trailer traveling east bound on the 401 slammed into the rear of the unmarked police vehicle causing extensive damage.
One of the officers was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries; the other officer was treated at the scene.
East bound 401 will be closed at the Comber exit to the Tilbury exit during police investigation.
Charges’ pending as investigation continues.
