(BLIND RIVER, ON)- On July 29, 2016, shortly before 10:00 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) set up Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program on Highway 557 north of Blind River.

Police observed two males walking on Highway 557 with open containers of alcoholic beverages. As a result of the investigation, Aaron ROY, 19 years of age and Joel HAMMOND, 19 years of age, both from Blind River, Ontario, were issued each a provincial offence notice and charged with: Consuming Liquor in Other than Licensed Premises, Residence or Private Place, contrary to section 31(2) of the Liquor Licence Act.

PASSING UNSAFELY – DRIVER CHARGED

(TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE, ON) – On July 30, 2016, shortly before 6:00 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on general patrol duties on Highway 17, east of Blind River.

Police observed a vehicle passing unsafely into oncoming traffic. The officer also had to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

As a result, Aaron JOLIN, 21 years of age, from Oshawa, Ontario, was issued a provincial offence notice and charge with: Careless Driving, contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act.

SUSPENDED DRIVER CHARGED

(TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTHSHORE, ON) – On July 31, 2016, members of the Ontario Provincial police were on regular patrol on Highway 17, east of Blind River.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m., police observed a vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated. Investigation revealed the driver was suspended. As a result of the investigation, John MCCAULEY, 43 years of age from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was charged with: Driving While Under Suspension (X2), contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on October 5, 2016.
