East Algoma OPP Press Releases

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On August 20, 2016, shortly after 8:00 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties in the City of Elliot Lake.

Police observed an Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) travelling on Ottawa Avenue and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was found to be unlicensed.

As a result, Dustin WILSON, 21 years of age from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with: No Driver’s Licence, contrary to section 18(1) of Ontario Regulations 316/03 of the Highway Traffic Act.

MALE CHARGED WITH MISCHIEF

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On August 22, 2016, shortly after 8:00 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault that occurred at a residence on London Crescent in the City of Elliot Lake.

Upon returning from vacation, homeowners found their home in a state of untidiness. Their son had been living in the residence without their permission while the homeowners were gone. When confronted, the son became assaultive towards his father.

As a result, Dan FITCH, 44 years of age from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:

Assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC);

Unlawfully in a Dwelling House, contrary to section 349(1) of the CC; and

Mischief Under $5000, contrary to section 430(4) of the CC.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on October 4, 2016.
