(ELLIOT LAKE ON)- On September 15, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), responded to a threatening call in the City of Elliot Lake.
Shortly after 11:00 a.m., police attended the Ontario Court of Justice where an employee had received a threatening phone call from a male. During this phone call, the male stated that he knew where the employee lived, and threatened to harm the employee. Further investigation determined the male was currently on conditions.
As a result of the investigation, on September 16, 2016, Michael RELLINGER, 28 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Uttering Threats-Cause Death or Bodily Harm (X2), contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);
Uttering Threats-Damage Property, contrary to section 264.1(1)(b) of the CC; and
Fail to Comply with Probation Order (X2), contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.
The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on September 20, 2016.
MALE ARRESTED FOR DOMESTIC ASSAULT
(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On September 16, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic related incident in the City of Elliot Lake. A couple was having a dispute over the custody of the family pets.
Investigation determined that over the course of the relationship there were allegations of assault, mischief, threatening, and of the mistreatment of the animals.
On September 19, 2016, a 24 year old male from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:
Assault-Spousal, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC);
Sexual Assault, contrary to section 271 of the CC;
Utter Threats- Damage Property, contrary to section 264.1(1)(b) of the CC;
Mischief Under $5000, contrary to section 430(4) of the CC; and
Cruelty to Animals-Encourage, Aid or Assist in Fighting or Baiting, contrary to section 445.1(1)(b).
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on November 1, 2016.
MALE ARRESTED FOR BREACHING HIS CONDITIONS
(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On September 19, 2016, shortly after 8:30 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information that a male was breaching his conditions in the City of Elliot Lake.
Police learned that a male was not at his residence on Hillside Drive or with his surety. Shortly after 9:30 p.m., officers located the male who had a curfew of 9:00 p.m. at a residence on Hutchison Avenue. The male was also in the company of another male that he wasn’t supposed to communicate with.
As a result, Jessy ST JEAN, 24 years old from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was charged with:
Fail to Comply with Recognizance (X5), contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code (CC); and
Fail to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1 of the CC.
The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on September 20, 2016.
MALE ARRESTED FOR DOMESTIC ASSAULT
(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On September 19, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic assault that had occurred on September 18, 2016 in the City of Elliot Lake. Investigation determined that during an altercation, a male assaulted and threatened a female.
As a result of the investigation, a 38 year old male from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was charged with:
Assault – Spousal, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC)
Uttering Threats-Cause Death or Bodily Harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC; and
Forcible Confinement, contrary to section 279(2) of the CC.
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on October 4, 2016.
