On August 4, 2015 at 5: 55 p.m. Guelph Police attended to the scene of a dump truck roll over. It is alleged that a dump truck was on Wellington Street West negotiating the bend at McCrae Boulevard and rolled over. The truck ended up resting across the eastbound lanes of Wellington. The dump truck was carrying spent asphalt, which spilled out of the box and onto the road. The truck’s fuel tanks ruptured as well, which caused a significant diesel spill.
This incident caused the closure of Wellington Street between Edinburgh Road and Gordon Street for several hours. The road was closed, not only to get the truck upright and the road cleared, but also for an extensive environmental cleanup.
The driver of the truck, a 37 year old Guelph man, was transported to the Guelph General Hospital and subsequently released with minor injuries.

Collision results in Multiple Charges
On August 4, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. Guelph Police were called to Gordon Street near Nottingham Drive, where there was a report of a collision. It is alleged a GMC van, driven by a 31 year old Guelph female, was travelling southbound and struck a four door Ford. This resulted in minor damage to both vehicles.
A passenger in the GMC Van was transported to the Guelph General Hospital and subsequently released with minor injuries.
The driver of the GMC van was charged with careless driving and fail to give required information under the Highway Traffic Act. The passenger of the GMC was charged with passenger – fail to occupy position with seatbelt under the Highway Traffic Act.

Cyclist Arrested
On August 4, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. a Guelph Police officer observed a male riding his bicycle on the sidewalk in the area of Scottsdale Drive and stopped the male. As a result of the investigation that was initiated from the stop, a 31 year old Guelph male is facing the following charges: obstruct police, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break and enter tools, possession of a controlled substance and riding a bicycle on a sidewalk (City of Guelph Bylaw). The male was held for a bail hearing.
Break and Enters
On August 4, 2015, the Guelph Police attended to a Watt Street residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the residence sometime between overnight and stole the wallet and vehicle of the homeowner.

On August 4, 2015, the Guelph Police attended to a Delhi Street business to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered a storage shed sometime between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and stole a bicycle.

Bicycle Theft
On August 4, 2015 Guelph Police received an online report of a bicycle theft. A bicycle was left secured on a bike rack, which was on a vehicle in the area of Essex Street and Dublin Street. Sometime overnight, culprit(s) stole the bicycle.
