DUKESHIRE – 135 in an 80, Impaired Driving, etc

(HALIBURTON, ON) – On March 26, 2016 just before midnight, an officer from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a black Hyundai for travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 35 near Lutterworth Pines Road in the Township of Minden Hills.

After a speaking to the male driver, the officer determined that the male’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and he was arrested.

The vehicle was locked on radar at approximately 135 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The vehicle he was driving was impounded and his driver’s licence was seized and suspended for 7 days under the stunt driving legislation.

Scott DUKESHIRE, 36 years old of Ingersoll has been charged with the following:

· Drive while ability impaired sec 253(1)(a) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

· Care and Control over 80 mg sec 253(1)(b) contrary to the CC

· Race Motor Vehicle sec 172(1) contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

· Fail to have insurance card sec 3(1) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA)

The accused was also served a 90 day Automatic Driver’s Licence Supsension (ADLS) for the Impaired and Care and Control charges. He was released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on May 4, 2016.
