During the evening of March 16th, a man called Wingham Police to the area South of Tim Hortons on Josephine Street where he had become stuck with his car in the ditch. Upon arrival police observed that the motor vehicle had been exiting the Tim Hortons parking lot when the driver turned prematurely and drove into the ditch.
Upon speaking with the driver, police determined that he had been drinking. He was read the Breath Demand and arrested for impaired driving. He was transported to the Huron County OPP Detachment in Goderich where he provided samples of his breath resulting in more than three times the legal limit. William Lyver, aged 41 of Walkerton, is charged with Impaired Driving, Drive with Over 80 milligrams of Alcohol, Fail to Comply with Probation, Fail to comply with Recognizance and Drive with no License. He is to appear in Court in Wingham on May 12th to answer to the charges.
