Drunk Driving Tractor Trailer Driver Faces Hit And Run Charge

(PEMBROKE, ON) – Shortly after 8am on the morning of August 19, 2015 the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a driving complaint regarding a tractor trailer that had struck a utility pole while leaving a business on Pembroke Street West in Laurentian Valley Township. A short time later police located and stopped the tractor trailer on MacKay Street in Pembroke after it had struck a fire hydrant on MacKay Street. The driver Neil Daniel RYAN, age 45 of Huntsville, Ontario, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. RYAN was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

· Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood

· Driving while Disqualified

· Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent

RYAN was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke. RYAN’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days due to RYAN driving while disqualified. RYAN also faces the following charges under the Highway Traffic Act:

· Drive While Under Suspension – 2 counts

· Drive Motor Vehicle With Improper Licence

· Fail To Remain

RYAN is scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Pembroke by way of summons on October 5, 2015 to answer to the Highway Traffic Act charges.
