23 Dec 2013,

11:45 am police had a motor vehicle collision reported to them the day after it happened. At this point both drivers had a different version of what occurred. Without reporting the collision when it occurs police have little to investigate. Please remember that if the total damage to everything involved in the collision appears to be over $1000 you need to report it to the police. It does not take much to reach $1000.

24 Dec 2013,

12:02 am police observed a male urinating against the Walker House. The person saw police and went inside. Police observed a broken window where the male was standing. There were no witnesses to the mischief and police could not charge the male party.

1:48 am police attended to a fight outside the Wismer House. Both had been drinking and neither wished to have charges laid. Both sent on their way.

4:28 am police arrested a Saugeen Shores male for impaired driving after the male lost control of his vehicle and stuck in a snow bank on Blanchfield. Jacob Cowling, 19 years of Saugeen Shores was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive over 80 mgms and his vehicle was towed. He further received a 90 day ADLS driver’s licence suspension.

4:45 pm police investigated a break and enter complaint on Catherine St Port Elgin. Sometime in the previous two days person(s) unknown entered an unlocked garage and stole a bow some arrows and knives. No suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.

6:36 pm police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Falconer St Port Elgin. A vehicle backing out of a parking spot from a residence backed into a parked vehicle on the road. The driver of the offending vehicle was charged.

25 Dec 2013,

1:25 pm police responded to a motor vehicle and snowmobile collision on Bruce Rd 17 near the Harry Thede Side road. A 45 year old male from Saugeen Shores was operating his snowmobile on Bruce Rd 17 just west of the Saugeen River Bridge. He was travelling with another snowmobile when a vehicle travelling east on County Rd 17 lost control on the curve and struck the snowmobile the man was operating. He received major injuries to his leg and was taken to hospital by ambulance. His injuries are non life threatening. Police are investigating.

26 Dec 2013,

4:58 am police received a report of a stolen vehicle from Port Elgin. While police were investigating a Wiarton Detachment OPP officer arrested a 19 year old Owen Sound male for Impaired Driving in the stolen vehicle near Tara. The male faces Impaired Driving, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Theft of Vehicle charges.

9:57 am police received a report from a person who lost her phone in the parking lot of Walmart in Port Elgin. When they called the phone a male person said he would be glad to return the phone and gave them an address in Owen Sound to pick it up. When they attended to Owen Sound the address did not exist. Rogers disabled the phone so it is useless to the Grinch who is in possession of it.

27 Dec 2013,

3:16 am police received a report of a vehicle in the ditch along Bruce Rd 3 and Bruce Rd 40 from an off duty Saugeen Shores police officer. Police attended and arrested the lone occupant of the vehicle for Impaired Driving. He was taken back to the police office where he provided readings of 230 mgms and 220 mgms respectively. Zachary Parker 32 years of Paisley faces charges of Impaired Driving, Drive over 80 mgms, his vehicle was towed and he received a 90 day ADLS Drivers Licence suspension.

4:10 pm police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Johnston and Stafford St. A vehicle traveling west on Johnston was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Stafford St who stopped for the stop sign then proceeded before the way was safe. The driver of the northbound vehicle was charged with failing to yield to traffic.

28 Dec 2013,

1:22 am police responded to the Wismer House to a report of an intoxicated male trying to get back into the bar after being cut off and refusing to leave. The 26 year old Brampton male was arrested for Trespassing (Fail to leave when directed) and being intoxicated in a public place. He was held in police cells until sober.

5:39 am police received a report from OPP they had arrested five suspects who were in possession of a large quantity of change. Police checked the area pop machines and found that the machines at Foodland, Rona, Lido, Beachin, and Ralphs had all been hit. Police are investigating.

11:20 am police responded to a break and enter at a trailer in the Southampton Trailer park. A television was stolen. Anyone with information on this or any matter is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.

10:09 pm police conducted RIDE in Saugeen Shores, no Impaired Drivers noted.

29 Dec 2013,

1:15 am police were flagged down by Wismer staff reporting an intoxicated male who had left the bar. The male was located and arrested for public intoxication and escorted to his sisters.

2:20 am police charged a Kincardine male on Goderich St for having liquor in other than licenced premises.
