(WELLINGTON NORTHTOWNSHIP, ON) – On October 25, 2015 at approximately 12:34 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report from a concerned citizen of a possible impaired driver with children in the vehicle that was last seen on Highway 6 in Mount Forest, Wellington North Township.
Officers located the Dodge Journey that matched the description given by the witness on Highway 6, just north of Kenilworth.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and while speaking with the driver police detected the odour of alcohol on his breath. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was transported to a local Operation Centre for further testing.
The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
35-year-old Kevin HAGGERTY of Cambridge has been charged with Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on November 17, 2015 to answer to the charge.
