Drunk Driver Rolls Vehicle – Partially Submerged

(NORWICH TOWNSHIP, ON.) – On January 1, 2015 at approximately 3:48 a.m. members of the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the scene of a single motor vehicle collision which occurred on Airport Road just west of Hanmer Line in Norwich Township.

Information police received was that a vehicle had flipped over, was partially submerged in Otter Creek and a female driver was trapped. The male passenger was able to get out of the vehicle and left the scene on foot to get assistance. Police from Norfolk and Oxford Counties responded along with Norwich Township fire department and Oxford County Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

Police arrived and located the female outside of the vehicle. Police assisted the driver to an awaiting ambulance. The driver, passenger and two OPP officers were taken to a local hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and hypothermia.

As a result of investigation the female driver, 35 year old Nicole DUVAL of Delhi was charged with the following:

Drive While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle ~ Criminal Code of Canada
Careless driving ~ Highway Traffic Act

The male passenger, 23 year old Layne BRADFIELD of Tillsonburg was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following:

Fail to comply Probation Order

Both were released to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on future dates.
