(LAMBTON, ON) β On Thursday December 29th, 2016, just after 7:30 p.m., the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a 911 call in relation to a two vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of 40 Highway and Hill Street, St. Clair Township.
Lambton OPP along with Lambton Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and St. Clair Township Fire Department responded and located two involved vehicles within the intersection of 40 Highway and Hill Street, St. Clair Township.
Investigation determined that a vehicle was stopped on 40 Highway, northbound, at the intersection waiting to turn onto Hill Street, when it was struck from behind by a second vehicle that was traveling northbound on 40 Highway. A female driver and two children in the stopped vehicle sustained only minor injuries as a result of the collision.
In speaking with the driver of the second vehicle, officers formed the opinion that the driver was impaired due to the consumption of alcoholic beverages. The driver was arrested and transported to the Corunna OPP detachment for breath testing which resulted in readings over the legal limit.
As a result, 30 year old Gregory Joshua CHALMERS of St. Clair Township has been charged with,
Drive While Ability Impaired Cause Bodily Harm
Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content / Cause Accident with Bodily Harm
The accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday February 6th, 2017.
