(SOUTH-WEST OXFORD TOWNSHIP, ON) – On February 24, 2017 a member of the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on general patrol on Kellett Road in South West Oxford Township, observed a vehicle travelling a high rate of speed.
At approximately 6:35 p.m., OPP activated their emergency lights and the Dodge car started pulling over but did not stop. The vehicle left the roadway and drove across a front lawn nearly missing the residence, before continuing to drive around to the rear of the residence.
OPP then located the vehicle abandoned and the driver had fled the area on foot. A canine track was conducted and the suspect driver was located and arrested.
The male driver, Christopher THOMAS 45-years-old of Glencoe is charged with the following offences:
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle – Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer -CCC
Driving While Ability Impaired -CCC
Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood -CCC
Fail to Comply with Probation Order -CCC
Driving While under Suspension (2 counts) – Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
Speeding – HTA
Driving with Open Container of Liquor – Liquor Licence Act
The male was held for a bail hearing to answer to the charges.
