(SUDBURY, ON) – At 6:40 p.m., on November 6, 2015, Sudbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle personal injury motor vehicle collision on Highway 144, Baynes Township, north of Marquette Lake.
A pickup truck travelling southbound failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, and drove up onto a rock cut.
Police attended the scene and it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol.
As a result of the investigation, Bruce Allen REYNOLDS, 60 years of age, from French River, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following:
1. Adult – Driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle, contrary to the Criminal Code
2. Adult – Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code
3. Adult – Dangerous operation of motor vehicle, contrary to the Criminal Code
The male driver and lone occupant, was transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with non-life threatening injuries.
REYNOLDS’ driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven (7) days.
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, on November 18, 2015, to answer to his charges.
The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
