Drunk Driver Caught On Harriston Road – Name Released

(HOWICK, ON) – Another drunk driver has been arrested and charged by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) following a traffic stop that took place yesterday afternoon (07Dec). At approximately 3:30 p.m. a Huron County OPP officer was stopped at the intersection of Fordwich Line and Harriston Road when he observed a GMC Savana cargo van pass by travelling westbound on Harriston Road. The officer pulled out and began following the van for a short distance. It wasn’t long before the investigating officer noticed erratic driving so a traffic stop was conducted. Upon speaking with the male driver the officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol and was displaying obvious signs of impairment.

The driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Driving and was subsequently transported to the Listowel OPP Detachment for breath tests. He later provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 37-year-old Kevin WACHOWIAK from St. Thomas has been charged with Impaired Driving & Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 16, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his van will be impounded for the week.
