Drunk Driver Caught On Elginfield Road

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – On October 1, 2016, at approximately 9:33 p.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver travelling on Elginfield Road, near Ailsa Craig Main Street.

While police were patrolling in the area for the vehicle, the grey Toyota car crossed the centre line on Elginfield Road near Denfield Road, forcing the police vehicle to take evasive action.

Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop, and it was determined that the 64-year-old male driver had been drinking alcohol. He was placed under arrest, and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for breath testing, which revealed he had consumed more than twice the legal limit of alcohol.

As a result of the police investigation, Terrance JOHNS, from Middlesex Centre, Ontario, has been charged with driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol), and driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA), and is scheduled to answer the charges in a London court on November 15, 2016.
