Drunk Driver Caught In Clinton – Name Of A-C-W Man Released

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 53-year-old from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh will have his day in court in June following an impaired driving incident that took place earlier this month. Just before 5:00 p.m. on May 13, 2016 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a disturbance that was taking place on King Street in Clinton. Prior to arriving on scene police learned one of the involved parties had driven away from the scene and it was believed he was impaired.

Officers began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and within a few minutes they located the Ford Focus travelling on King Street. Officers proceeded to conduct a traffic stop to check on the sobriety of the driver. Upon speaking with the male driver, officers noted he had been drinking alcohol and he was displaying several signs that his ability to drive was impaired.

The driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Driving and he was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 53-year-old Mark ALBERT from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on June 13, 2016. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
