On September 15, 2013 at 8:56 pm, a Barrie Police traffic officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Mapleview Drive and Essa Road. The vehicle was pulled over by officers.
The officers detected a strong smell of alcohol in the vehicle. Further investigation resulted in the driver being issued a roadside breath test which he failed.
The driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported back to the Barrie Police Service for breath tests. Both tests at the station resulted in reading of over the legal limit.
The 36 year old Shanty Bay man driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded.
