Drunk Driver Arrested On Hwy 4 – HODGINS

(HURON EAST, ON) – A Huron County male will be making a trip to court in the New Year following his arrest last night for Driving With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol.

At approximately 10:28 p.m. the driver of a Chrysler sedan was travelling southbound on London Road (Highway 4) when he entered into a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint near Kippen Road.

While speaking with the male driver the investigating officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. A roadside screening test was administered and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Exeter OPP detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

Scott HODGINS, 45 years of age from Hensall has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 22, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

He received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle was towed and impounded.
