Drunk Driver Arrested Near Goderich – Name Released

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 24-year-old from Bluewater has been charged with Over 80 following a traffic stop that took place east of Goderich on Canada Day.

Just before 11:30 p.m. on July 1, 2017 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped the driver of a Ford Escape at the intersection of Kitchigami Road and Whys Line to check on the sobriety of the driver.

While speaking with the male driver the investigating officer noted the driver had alcohol on his breath. Accordingly a roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

24-year-old Darren PARKER from Bluewater has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 21, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
