Drunk Driver Arrested After Hitting Police Cruiser

(TECUMSEH, ON) On August 25, 2016, around 11:30 a.m., Tecumseh Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Lesperance Road near County Road 22. Witnesses reported the vehicle was been driven in an erratic manner.

While patrolling the area, members located the vehicle stopped in the intersection of Lesperance Road and County Road 22. As members were attempting to conduct a traffic stop, the driver accelerated causing their vehicle to collide with the rear of the OPP vehicle.

The vehicle was stopped and members noted several signs that the female driver was impaired by drug.

The driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Driving and was transported to the Tecumseh OPP Detachment where she was evaluated by a qualified Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). The driver refused to comply with the demands made to her by the DRE.

As a result, the female driver, Annie MOCKO, 60-years-old of Tecumseh was charged with Adult Driving while ability impaired by drug contrary to Section.253(1)(a) and Adult evaluation demand not complied with, contrary to Section.254(3.1)(0.5) Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is required to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on September 1, 2016 to answer to the charges.
