Drunk Driver 2X Legal Limit Arrested In Owen Sound

On Saturday August 13 th , shortly after bar closing, a concerned citizen flagged down a police officer to report a possible impaired driver. The vehicle was located and stopped by police in the 1000 block of 2 nd Avenue West.

The investigating officer detected the odour of alcohol emanating from the male driver’s breath, which lead to the officer demanding the male provide a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device. The 30 year old Owen Sound man failed the roadside test resulting with him being placed under arrest and transported to Owen Sound Police Service.

The male failed subsequent breath tests with results that were twice that of the legal limit. The male has been given a court date at the end of August to answer to the charge of operating a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The male’s driver’s licence has been immediately suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 7 days.
