On the 24th of March 2014 at 11:38pm, the Waterloo Regional Police Traffic Branch was conducting a mobile R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program in the area of Victoria Street North and Natchez Road in the city of Kitchener. Police pulled over a 28 year old Cambridge male driving a silver Nissan with two other adult males in the vehicle. While the driver’s sobriety was being evaluated, a strong odor of marihuana was detected coming from the cabin of the vehicle. As a result of further investigation, Police located 11 grams of marihuana in the vehicle and an open bottle of liquor. The driver was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor and Failing to surrender the permit for the motor vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on the 30th of May 2014.
