(TOWNSHIP OF NEW TECUMSETH) – On Saturday, March 18, 2017, at approximately 1:40 p.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a driving complaint in the Town of Alliston.
Police located the vehicle and driver parked on Victoria Street in Alliston. When the officer approached the driver, he immediately smelled a strong odour of Cannabis Marihuana. Further police investigation revealed Cannabis Marihuana located in the vehicle.
The male driver of the vehicle was arrested and transported back to the Nottawasaga OPP Detachment where a Drug Recognition Evaluation (DRE) was conducted.
As a result of the officer’s investigation, Cosimo CARERI, age 25 of New Tecumseth was charged with Impaired Driving by Drug and Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
He was released on a Promise to Appear before an Ontario Court of Justice, with a future court date.
