Drug Charge At RIDE

(CALEDON, ON)- On Thursday, August 1, 2013 shortly before 11 pm, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check in the area of Kingsview Drive and Humber Lea Road in the Village of Bolton

As the officers interacted with the driver of a black Volkswagen Jetta, they immediately detected a strong odour of a substance, believed to be marijuana, emanating from the vehicle. As a result of the officer’s detection of an odour similar to that of marijuana, the driver produced a bag containing a green leafy substance.

Once the investigation was completed, Giovanni Charles FERNANDES, 25, of Caledon was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on September 16, 2013.
