Drug Bust – Stolen Property Recovered

(CHIPPEWAS OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – On Wednesday, April 22, 2015, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), with the assistance of the Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit (PWEU), the Middlesex County OPP, the OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), the West Region Canine Unit, and the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Police, executed Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrants at a business and a residence on the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Ontario.

As a result of the execution of the search warrants, a quantity of controlled substances were located and seized, including cocaine, cannabis marihuana, hydromorphone, and anabolic steroids. Two stolen motorcycles, as well as a firearm, and two electroshock weapons (“stun guns”), were also located and seized during the course of the searches.

A 29 year old male, Nicholas MARSH, residing on Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Ontario, has been charged with:

· 5(2) CDSA – Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (3 Counts)

· 5(2) CDSA – Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (4 Counts)

· 5(2) CDSA – Possession of a Schedule IV Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (2 Counts)

· 91(2) CCC – Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (4 Counts)

· 117.01 CCC – Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited

354(1)(a) CCC – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (5 Counts)

A 57 year old male, John MARSH, from London, Ontario has been charged with:

· 5(2) CDSA – Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (2 Counts)

· 5(2) CDSA – Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (3 Counts)

· 5(2) CDSA – Possession of a Schedule IV Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (2 Counts)

· 91(2) CCC – Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (2 Counts)

· 354(1)(a) CCC – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (2 Counts)

· 91(1) CCC – Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

A 32 year old female, Charlee RILEY, from Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, has been charged with:

· 5(2) CDSA – Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

· 5(2) CDSA – Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

· 91(2) CCC – Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (2 Counts)

· 354(1)(a) CCC – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (3 Counts)

The accused persons were initially held in custody, and are scheduled to appear in the London courts to answer to the charges.
