Drug Bust In Little Current

(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – A Little Current man has been charged following a five month long investigation by the Manitoulin Detachment of The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On August 10, 2016, members of the local detachment, assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended a private residence in Little Current with a search warrant. As a result of the search, marihuana products, cash, and firearms were seized.

Rayfield Warren COOPER, age 55, of Little Current, Ontario, has been arrested and charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance, contrary to section 5(1) and section 5(2) of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act, one count of production of a controlled substance, contrary to section 7(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act, careless storage of a firearm, contrary to section 86(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada, unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused person is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay, Ontario on October 18, 2016.
